Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts are proud to announce today that Captain Stefan Della Rovere has been selected to represent Canada’s National Junior team at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Saskatchewan from December 26th to January 5th.

In an announcement made by Hockey Canada and the Canadian Hockey League on Wednesday, Della Rovere will join six other players from the Ontario Hockey league, not including Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues and formerly of the Niagara IceDogs.

Della Rovere played his way on to the gold medal winning team in 2008 and made his presence felt in a defensive role.

This season Della Rovere has played in 28 games and has 12 goals and 13 assists for 23 points and is tied for the team lead in penalty minutes with 58.  His Barrie Colts have won 19 consecutive games and are at the top of the Eastern Conference.

Barrie is currently ranked as the 3rd best team in the CHL with a record of 27-4-0-1, as they enjoy their tenth week in the CHL’s top-ten rankings.
