Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts are proud to announce today that they have won the Hamilton Spectator Trophy, awarded each season to the team who finishes with the best overall record in the Ontario Hockey League.
The Colts clinched top spot and home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs, by defeating the Belleville Bulls 4-2 at the Yardmen Arena in Belleville Sunday afternoon.
Barrie has set new franchise records with 54 wins and 110 points and have three games remaining in the regular season.
The Colts will have to wait to determine who their first-round opponent will be; there are currently four teams separated by five points, with only three playoff spots up for grabs.
Barrie finishes their season with a home and home series against Brampton, and will then host the Kingston Frontenacs on Saturday night.
